About Starlight Community Network
We're building the future of Discord communities.
Our Mission
We believe that gaming and online communities should be accessible, welcoming, and safe for everyone. Starlight Community Network connects passionate community builders with engaged members to create thriving digital spaces.
Every community in our network is hand-picked, verified, and supported to ensure the highest quality experience for our members. We're not just building servers – we're building lasting connections.
Our Story
The Beginning
Starlight Community Network began humbly on May 18, as a small group chat among friends seeking escape from the chaotic Rigs of Rods community, aiming to create a safe and enjoyable space to hang out. As interest grew, on March, 30 it evolved into a private server called “V&J Hangout.”
Growing Pains
Realizing the potential to expand beyond our circle, we opened the doors to the public on January 18, However, our initial openness was met with challenges; the server encountered its first raid, revealing vulnerabilities like broken roles and general disarray. Consequently, it was permanently rebranded as “V&J Hangout: Archived.”
Undeterred by setbacks, on July 30, “V&J: Reborn” emerged from the ashes. The original group splintered off to form the “Squad Hangout” on December 18.
The first (but not last) Rebrand
Some time in early 2021, we rebranded to Midnight Gaming Network. And we officially brung in a server that we were allied with during the V&J era, United Federal Nation.
Expansion
During 2022, we started expanding with a bunch of servers, such as Busdriver5's Community, (now known as Moonlight Simulations.) Fuzzy Paws Den, Clonn3DModel's Discord, Fluffy_x YT Server, Fuzzy Lewd Paws. (we're not proud of that one)
The 2nd Rebrand
On July 14th we had our second rebrand and almost our last too. Starlight Gaming Network. Here's where we finally started to get a pretty decent foundation. SGN slowly stopped becoming a gaming community, and it went back to its roots. A community for anyone. And we officially named our community, referred to them as the Shimmering Community.
5 Years!
There was a lot of groundwork changes during this time. We updated our security and started pushing our communities to raise the bar we had also had gotten a new website at the time. And, as seen, it had officially turned 5 years old. And we definitely had dropped some servers during that time. and made mistakes. But it wasn't all bad. We had brought in two communities at the time, Clonn's and JP Plays
The Missing Puzzle Piece
We had officially become Starlight Community Network, and SCN had effectively fully matured. We officially created our own status page. You can see when our websites are down; we created the shimmering community docs. We officially started our transparency program. And our previous site had finally left beta. But not everything was good.
I would argue this is the lowest of the low. There was one piece of this puzzle that never changed. That being me. And because of that, I broke people's trust. and created division and effectively torn down everything I built. All because of two stupid decisions in my personal life during 2020 and 2023, respectively.
The Future
To be honest, I don't really know what the future brings. But looming over the past isn't really gonna do Me or SCN any good i'll just be setting this up for failure. So it's time to take what I've learned apply it and move on. And I encourage each and every one of you to do the same.
